As the weather finally starts to turn, long days spent in sundresses turn into long cozy nights wrapped in sweaters and a duvet. And for many of us, that means one thing and one thing only: it’s time to step up our bedding game.

Silk sheets and pillowcases may sound incredibly luxurious, but in recent years they have become all the rage, especially since people have realized some of the benefits. One of those brands that is responsible for this dormant revolution after exploding on TikTok is Silvi.

Known for just one product, “the pillowcase,” Silvi went viral for good reason. It’s made from 22 Momme and 100 percent mulberry silk (as you may have noticed, that’s the highest possible grade you can get).

It has also been treated with antibacterial silver ions, reducing bacteria by 99.97 percent. So if you think this sounds like your run-of-the-mill floss, think again. Silvi says that the benefits of silver practically never end; it’s odor resistant, anti-mite, protects hair and helps against breakouts, is anti-aging, regulates temperature, requires 3 times less washing and the list goes on.

Sounds almost too good to be true, right? Well, apparently things just keep getting better, as regardless of size, it comes as a standard size (51cm x 76cm) or king size (51cm x 90cm) pillowcase, it’s still just £52. a 100-night trial, so if you don’t like it, you can return it.

Naturally, all this piqued my interest and I had to try it for myself. And as a restless sleeper who often spends much of the night tossing and turning and overheating, I’m willing to try anything that can improve my nighttime experience.

How we test

I tested Silvi’s silk pillowcase for a month, washing it twice as recommended (once every 10-14 days) according to the instructions. I kept my hair and skin care routines the same, to make sure that if there was a difference, I would notice it. I also took note of my comfort and quality of sleep during the time I wore it. Here’s why I am now officially a Silvi convert.

From the beginning, Silvi’s pillowcase was a real pleasure. She arrived at my door in a peach pink box with a tissue paper lining and an informational brochure. The brand itself is charming: simple and clean, with an eye-catching logo. The box is worth keeping as it’s very nice on its own, but I guess you’d only need it if you wanted to keep your pillowcase more secure.

Once out of the box, the pillowcase was opened eight times, measuring 51cm wide and 76cm long. It seals with a neat little hidden zipper, which means it really does feel like a luxury product, unlike a standard pillowcase with a pocket or buttons.

The £52 price tag might seem like a lot when you first hear it, but it immediately feels like an investment and something that will last. It’s also worth noting that other silk pillowcases we’ve tested have had similar price points. My pillowcase is white, which perfectly complements my sheets. You could go for charcoal if you had a darker color theme in your bedroom.

At first, I was a bit skeptical – it was so noticeably different than my cotton sheets that I wondered if I would get used to it or if I would feel like I was slipping all night on its silky surface. But I quickly got used to it and it started to feel even more comfortable than my usual pillowcases, like a little spot of luxury in my otherwise very standard setting.

The first thing I noticed was my headlessness the next morning. My hair often knots in the back overnight from all the movement (which is my favorite pet peeve since I hate brushing it). But the soft mulberry silk keeps your hair smooth and shiny and is also meant to help with flyaways and brittle hair.

The Silvi pillowcase also saves you from those classic puffy eyes you sometimes wake up with in the morning. You know, the one where you look in the mirror, your eyes blurry, and you can almost see your cotton pillowcase imprinted on your face. The antibacterial properties of silk eliminate this completely, leaving the skin soft and supple.

And after a few nights, I realized what I liked the most. If, like me, you are someone who turns their pillows to the cold side more than 10 times each night, then the Silvi pillowcase is your answer. His pillow stays cold all night, not frozen, but cold enough to keep him cool, so he can leave the tossing and turning in the past.

According to its detailed care instructions, I washed the pillowcase after 10 days (although it said it will last up to 14), on a delicate cycle, and was pleased to see that it didn’t lose its shine. And compared to a standard cotton pillow, it certainly felt like it needed less washing, which I think is due in part to the Mulberry silk, which means it absorbs a lot less oil, dirt, and moisture than a typical pillow.

The Verdict: Silvi Anti-Acne Silk Pillowcase

I am officially a Silvi convert. Not only because my hair feels less damaged (and looks less angry) since using it, but because it actually improves my sleep. Silk creates a fresh sensation that leads to restful sleep. It also stops skin irritation, swelling, and bacteria buildup, and you’ll really feel like you’re resting in a clean, cool place. This is a worthwhile purchase if you’re looking to invest in your sleep, skin, and hair care.
